About the Foundation
The Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that promotes mental health and wellbeing, and researches structured group programmes for mental health and resiliency.
Our mission
The Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that promotes mental health and wellbeing, and researches structured group programmes for mental health and resiliency. Our registered charitable purposes are:
- To promote mental health and wellbeing by providing counselling, therapy and other therapeutic and wellness services to the general public, addressing factors that contribute to mental illness such as grief, trauma, anger, stress and addiction.
- To relieve poverty by giving people of low income access to those services.
- To advance education by researching the benefits and efficacy of available and experimental treatments for mental illness, in line with Health Canada regulations and guidelines.

What we have done so far
- September 2024. Incorporated as a BC society (S0074954). The Foundation is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.
- 2026. Became the sponsor of the GatherWell clinical trial (CINC-003-GatherWell), taking on responsibility for running a study of a structured twelve-week group programme under ethics and regulatory oversight.
- August 2026. Updated its charitable purposes and activities on file with the Canada Revenue Agency to cover this research.
- Next. The trial has not started, so there are no results yet. When it has run, we will publish what it found here, whatever the findings.

How we are governed
The Foundation is governed by its board of directors. It is its own legal entity, separate from any business that uses the Gathering name, and it reports to the Canada Revenue Agency every year as registered charities are required to.
How we are funded
